Thank you for your interest in our AncestryClassroom™ Programme (the 'Programme'). Each day, users of the Ancestry® family of websites utilise our historical records to discover and research their family histories, and the goal of AncestryClassroom™ is to help students discover, preserve and share their own family history. If your school is granted access to this Programme, your students will be able to access classroom versions of Ancestry® and Forces War Records from computers within the IP ranges you specify in your application, by visiting https://www.ancestryclassroom.co.uk and https://uk.forceswarrecords.com (the 'Programme Websites').
Below are the terms and conditions (the 'Agreement') that you must read and agree to before applying for, being considered for, and being awarded access to the Programme Websites provided under the Programme. By submitting a Programme application through the AncestryClassroom™ website, you are agreeing that you are legally bound by this Agreement, which is between you and Ancestry Ireland Unlimited Company ('Ancestry'), which operates AncestryClassroom™ and the Programme Websites. You hereby agree to the following terms:
You will comply with all applicable laws, Programme requirements, and any other restrictions or rules that we may publish or otherwise communicate to you at any time.
All access to the classroom versions of the Programme Websites provided under the AncestryClassroom™ Programme must be done solely via the school's network, within the approved IP address range.
All access is subject to the Ancestry Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement, which are applicable to the Programme Websites.
You acknowledge that you, your school, and/or your school district will be held responsible for any misuse of the AncestryClassroom™ services or improper access to the Programme Websites.
If you are a school administrator, teacher, or otherwise part of an educational setting and you intend to have students utilise the AncestryClassroom™ services and the online content provided under the AncestryClassroom™ Programme, you agree to take all necessary actions to comply with all applicable laws that relate to your use of the AncestryClassroom™ services including where and to the extent applicable, student privacy laws, including, but not limited to, the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 as it applies in the UK by virtue of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, the Data Protection Act (2018), any and all applicable guidance and codes of practice issued by the Information Commissioner's Office, in particular as it relates to the processing of children's data, the Education (Pupil Information) (England) Regulations 2005, Pupils' Educational Records (Scotland) Regulations 2003, The Pupil Information (Wales) Regulations 2011, and The Education (Pupil Reporting) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009. As part of these Programme requirements, you must prohibit all students with access to the AncestryClassroom™ Programme content from creating user accounts on Ancestry.com, Fold3.com, Newspapers.com, Forces War Records, or any other Ancestry websites. If any student is interested in signing up for an account and gaining access to non-classroom versions of the Programme Websites, the student’s parent or guardian must be the person that sets up any such accounts.
Ancestry has the right to suspend or terminate access to the AncestryClassroom™ Programme, or any associated Ancestry accounts if we, in our sole discretion, believe that the recipient is in violation of any applicable laws or any Programme requirements, guidelines or restrictions, including, but not limited to, the Ancestry Terms and Conditions or the access limitations described herein.
Ancestry has the right, at its sole discretion, to modify this Agreement or the Programme Websites, at any time. Information regarding new classroom resources, enhancements and changes will be posted to the relevant Programme Website(s) and/or sent to you via email. Ancestry may contact you via email about the AncestryClassroom™ Programme, to gather teacher feedback, to improve your experience, etc. no more than four (4) times per year. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by emailing [email protected]. If you choose to unsubscribe, you will still receive account-related communications including security and legal information. For further information about how Ancestry processes personal data, please review our Privacy Statement. If any portion of this Agreement or any changes to the Programme Websites is unacceptable to you or will cause you to no longer be in compliance with this Agreement, you must immediately notify us and we will terminate your access to the Programme. Continued use of the Programme Websites now or following posted notices of changes to this Agreement means you have accepted and agree to be bound by the changes.
Upon receiving access to the AncestryClassroom™ Programme, the Programme will automatically renew every three (3) years. You may cancel your access to the AncestryClassroom™ Programme at any time by emailing [email protected]
